GISDataDepot Premium Data Download Service - FAQ

To setup or access your GeoCommunity Account

You might be asking yourself "Why should I register for a GeoCommunity Account"? Here are some reasons as well as responses to commonly asked questions:
  • We've set aside a dedicated high speed connection, specifically for the use of account holders
  • Data can be downloaded from this pipe at speeds much faster than the free data download service.
  • You will only pay for data downloads that are successful
  • Account holders will have access to data no longer available for Free download on this site
  • All of the data files including the DOQQs are compressed with either gzip or winzip to ensure that transfers go as quickly as possible. Furthermore, we always use the highest level of compression possible to save disk space.
  • As incomplete data downloads sometimes happen for a variety of reasons, we only debit a data download upon its completed transfer.
  • Bad data also happens. Because we cannot guarantee that all files are valid, we have set up a mechanism to credit accounts. So if you come across any bad data files let us know and we'll credit your account an amount equal to or greater than the lost file size.
  • We've provided several options for bulk purchasing. You will need to re-submit your credit card information to replenish your account. This is required because the GeoCommunity does not maintain or keep any of your credit card information. Once your transaction is complete we no longer have your credit card details.
  • We will be implementing new features in the future, providing account holders with additional benefits.
