STATEWIDE STREAMS COVERAGE

Scale: 1:100,000 Source: USGS 100k DLG Format: Arc/Info Export Format

The Streams coverage is a polygon coverage that was created by reselecting both polygon and arc features from the original Hydrology coverage. It was necessary to reselect polygon features "Perennial Stream" minor1 = 412, and "Coastal Waters (marine)" minor1 = 116. Coastal Waters attribute the inland tidal rivers, such as the Kennebec or Penobscot which have a tidal surge well inland. It was also necessary to include islands which exist inside of the polygon streams. Therefore "Island Polygons" minor1 = 200 was selected as well. Polygon features that contain minor1 = 300 represent slivers. These were caused by some of the reselected arc features during rebuilding of the polygon attribute tables. The Streams coverage polygons also contain a MIDAS value on certain larger streams.

The reselected arc features consisted of "Perennial single line streams", "Intermittent single line streams", "Rapids", "Falls", "Dam", "Canal", and "Aqueducts".
