Data for this coverage were digitized from USGS 1:24,000 scale quadrangle maps by various contractors. Townlines, as shown on USGS maps, often have very poor alignment (edgematching) between adjacent quads. For this reason no codes have been added to the coverage. In the future, staff at OGIS plan to add appropriately coded closure lines and attach town names and geocodes as has been done with the other smaller scale town coverages.
